Bell (1881-1964) spent much of the 1920s in Paris, where he met Proust at least once, at a party celebrating the productions of Diaghilev. His study was published in November 1928, in an edition of 1,200 copies. Small octavo. Original red marbled cloth, paper spine label lettered in red, top edge red. With bookseller's ticket of Dartmouth Bookstall, Boston, Masachusetts, on front free endpaper. Lightly bumped and rubbed, faint sunning to spine, small damp stain to spine label and head of front cover, slight foxing to endpapers, faint toning to contents: a very good copy. Woolmer 156.
