A 3cm tear at top rear adjacent to spine. Tanning to edges of page-block. An 11cm tear at front hinge. Inscription to front pastedown. Heavy foxing to feps. Light scattered foxing, mainly to page margins. A couple of pages have heavier foxing. The binding remains sound. Pretty rough on the outside but internally fair. 204pp plus promotional pages. Enlarged second printing of 2000 copies in same year as first edition..

Head of spine gently pushed; foxing to edges of block; dust jacket tender, 7cm closed tear to spine at head, 4cm closed tear to tail at front and 1cm open tear to front tail near corner.

Sydney: Angus and Robertson, 1932. Third edition, enlarged. Good. Hardcover : pp. x, 272 (4) xviii (publisher's advertisement) : blue cloth covers with title to spine. Lettering to spine faded to be nearly illegible; cloth covers are scuffed and abraded with large patch of wear to centre of spine and further nibbling to tail; some foxing and soil marks to edges of block; light foxing to first and last leaves. First published in 1931, Idriess's 'how-to' manual was extremely popular, going into a second print run within a month. By 1932 it was into its third edition and over the next decade several more editions followed, making it a compendium of information for any historian of mining and metallurgy.

Sydney: Angus & Robertson, 1939. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Seventh edition. Small amount of foxing to the prelims and page edges. Lightly softened leading corners and spine tips. The jacket is on the whole very good and has only minor shallow chipping to the very tips of the spine and leading corners. This edition includes a chapter on prospecting for gold by W G Woolnough who was a Geologist for the Commonwealth of Australia.
