Jeanne Varney Book. 4. Wraps. Copyright 1933. Very good. 29 p. Includes illustrations. Typewritten pamphlet for French-language instruction on phonographs (booklet only). Pleasants (1898 1986) was a pioneer in the use of recording equipment to teach foreign language. She was on the faculty at the University of Paris (192733), Barnard College (1933-38), and Columbia University (1938-69) and named a Guggenheim Fellow in 1948. This is very likely the descriptive text that accompanied the three-LP set "Cours de phonetique-Prepared and spoken by Jeanne Varney Pleasants" (1956)..
