About This Item

Circa [1946]., [1946].. Very good. - Promotional broadside, approximately 12 inches high by 9 inches wide, softcover. The broadside, printed & illustrated in black & white on a yellow ground depicts 2 caricatured African natives,a man and woman, gossiping about the film's characters; "His wife won't take any of his lip since she saw M.O. kiss T. B. in W. W.'s N.I.P...."* with a smaller figure playing a drum in the top right corner. A caption along the bottom edge explains the line of dialogue: "*Merle Oberon and Turhan Bey in Walter Wanger's 'Night in Paradise'...in Technicolor of course!" There is light creasing to the edges of the broadside, some of it caused by heavy rubbing to the verso. Very good.

"Night in Paradise" is a 1946 film produced by Walter Wanger and directed by Arthur Lubin. This expensive Technicolor film featuring plaster Grecian temples and painted skies was Wanger's second attempt to film the novel "The Peacock's Feather" by George S. Hellman. It ended up costing $1.6 million and losing Universal around $800,000.
