Mild tanning to pages with slight dog-eared pages throughout and light tanning to text block edges. Tip ex to rear pastedown as well. Boards have fair rubbing and minor bumping to corners. Soft crushing to spine ends as well. Unclipped jacket with light edge wear and visible rubbing. Pencil inscription to front and there is visible tearing to corners, edges and spine ends.

Vandenberg, the uncle of Hoyt Vandenberg, represented the state of Michigan in the U.S. Senate from 1928 until his death in 1951. He reached the apex of his power in the final years of his life, when he served as both Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Senate President Pro Tempore. These private papers begin with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and continue until the Senator's death in 1951.
