Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott, 1913. Hardcover. Vol. 1 is immaculate. Vol. 2, as I have seen described elsewhere, has light warping and front cloth is loose without being in danger of coming off. Blue gilt-embossed cloth over boards. Decorative gold end papers. V1: 426 pp with 417 bw plates. V2: 277 pp with 343 bw plates. A stunning set of this large (11.1" x 14.2") and heavy (17 pounds). Both volumes are very-well illustrated including full page, tipped, and mounted plates. They are printed on fine paper, but I see no reference to a limitation as has been referenced elsewhere. Perhaps the limitation was only for the London edition, and this set has the publisher at the base of the spine. An authoritative, essential and revered reference work.
