The definitive edition of remarkable Dr. DeLee who was known as the "Crusading Obstetrician", he was concerned with improving maternity care for the poor as well as the rich, he created new instruments and the incubator, and innovated new techniques. His work became the definitive work in the field. He was concerned that most physicians di not trouble themselves to make pelvic measurements so his chapter on Contracted Pelvis was made required reading in medical schools not only for the students but the professors themselves.
