Contains colour illustrated frontispiece. Pages are lightly foxed, but text remains clear. Binding is firm. Previous owner's inscriptions to front free endpaper. Boards and spine have minimal shelf-wear, with mild corner bumping and crushing to ends. Noticeable scuffing and bleach spotting overall, with visible marks also. Book has a minor backwards lean.

George Routledge and Sons, Undated. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. The boards are shelf rubbed and worn at the corners. Some fraying at the head and toe of spine. The front end page is stripped. There is a previous owner's name sticker - dated 1884 - after the front end page. This is a fair indication around when the book was published. The spine is partly cracked within. The back end page has been removed. The pages are tanned, but the text is still crisp and legible. Occasional age related marks can be noticed in the text. The blocks are gilded.
