Map illustrated end pages – showing the route taken by Prince Charles Edward Stewart 'Bonnie Prince Charlie' after the battle of Culloden in 1746. The text is illustrated with both colour and black-and-white photographs taken by Don Kelly of the regions and route taken by Bonnie Prince Charlie after his defeat. White coloured faux leather covered books with gilt coloured embossed facsimile signature of Bonnie Prince Charlie to the lower right hand corner of the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Orange coloured tint to the text block edges. Colour photographic dustwrapper (wraparound), by Don Kelly with black coloured titles to the front panel and black and white coloured titles to the back strip. After the disastrous defeat at Culloden Moor in 1746, Prince Charles Edward Stewart, 'Bonnie Prince Charlie', fled, and, for the next three months the greatest manhunt occurred in the northern parts of Scotland and its accompanying islands until his eventual departure for France in June of the same year. 'The story , told almost day by day and using journals and other contemporary source, is one of superb bravery, cold treachery; desperate moonlight flits, holing up in caves and pig-styes and supported only by an occasional meal of porridge and a drink of whiskey; and by the love and devotion of a few faithful Highlanders who gladly offered up their lives for the Prince from over the water.'' -- from front fold over panel blurb.
