A pristine first edition, handsomely inscribed and signed by the author in blue fineline on front flyleaf: "To Bob Malott / With admiration / and friendship / always / Dave Abshire." Abshire (1926-2014) was a high-level government official, a special counselor to President Reagan and U.S. Ambassador to NATO (1983-87), while Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist.
