Illustrator: Various. 850 g; 208 pages, illustrated throughout with colour photographs, timelines, and maps, as well as black-and-white photographs. The rear section of the book is a dictionary. There is also a bibliography. On the front board there is tipped and illustration within blind stamped gilt borders, and there is gilt titling to the back strip. The chronology finishes in 1965 with the world fair of Negro African art at Dakar. There is introduction by the editor, as well as an introduction by Alan Broderick. A considerable amount of the book is given over to the art of Australia, New Guinea, and the oceanic islands. Clean copy, no damage to describe apart from slight ageing.
