London: William Heinemann, 1940. First Edition. Near Fine. First edition, first printing; colonial issue with small rubber stamp to verso of rear free endpaper. Bound in publisher's yellow cloth boards with spine lettered in red; lacking the dust jacket. Near Fine with slight lean to spine, corners bumped, several small water droplets to front cover visible only in raking light, light soiling to rear cover. Pages toned. A fantastic copy of an uncommon title, with many copies destroyed during the Blitz.

Synopsis

Graham Greene (1904–1991) worked as a journalist and critic, and was later employed by the foreign office. His many books include The Third Man , The Comedians and Travels with My Aunt . He is the subject of an acclaimed three-volume biography by Norman Sherry.
