Portus Novae Albionis / Sir Francis Drake's Plate of Brass [facsimile] by [Drake, in California] - 1966

Point Reyes CA: Drake Navigators Guild, 1966. Embossed facsimile (5x7 inches) on metallic paperstock, mounted on a textured moss-green leaf (8x10) which is tipped into a long folio leaf printed and folded to make an 8.5x11 inch brochure; this presentation folder supplies minimal textual information but clearly belongs to the "this is the real mccoy" school of thought, now discredited. Item's green background leaf has detached from original mounting glue. The "brass plate" remains a genuine curiosity however, as a clever forgery, and the presentation itself attests to something beyond mere gullibility and even beyond mischief. Aside from a bit of edgewear to outermost folder, and said detachment, very good condition.
