Hobart, Tasmania: Mercury Press (printer), 1948. Stapled Card Wraps. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The edges are lightly bumped and the front covers suffers from very light insect damage, else a clean, unmarked and solid copy. 24 pages, each page contains an etching depicting a Port Arthur building, with annotations by Coultman Smith. Dedication by I.G. Anderson on front paste down.First Edition. "I. G. Anderson (1890 - 19630 spent many years living in Geelong, where he most likely grew up, married and had a family, and later lived in Melbourne. During the war, he was the architect for the American army, mainly redesigning buildings for weapons storage. He was well known to General Douglas MacArthur. He moved to Hobart with his wife in the late 1940s, where he worked as an architect, mainly designing hotels and motels. In Hobart he was also well known as an artist and as an alderman. He designed the Hobart Coat of Arms." (Centre for Australian Art Australian Prints + Printmaking) "Beverley Coultman Smith (1917-1978) worked as a newspaper reporter in Hobart, served in the Australian army in the Pacific during the Second World War, and became a feature writer and magazine editor. His published books include Shadow over Tasmania (1941), Port Arthur's convict days (1946), Tales of Old Tasmania (1978), A garland of haiku (1978) and Town with a history: Beaconsfield Tasmania (1978)."
