Boards in very good condition with label removal mark to lower spine; binding firm. Owners bookplate to front and back pastedowns (perhaps covering library labels); pages are wavy but tight; no mustiness detected and foxing is very light and occasional.William Ellis (1794 –1872) was an English missionary and author. He traveled through the Society Islands, Hawaiian Islands, and Madagascar. Ellis's classic Polynesian Researches, details his encyclopedic knowledge of Polynesia, its cultures and the history of missionary endeavor amongst them. Volume Three continues the narrative before concluding with a survey of other areas of Polynesia including the Marquesas, Australia and New Zealand.
