In this work J P Zollinger aims, "in a scientifically justifiable way, to integrate what is known regarding the world of political civilization into the general framework of modern evolutionary science, to break down the ancient superstition that the world of man, stands outside the general world order, or that he lives in a hermetically sealed domain within nature." The focal point of Zollinger's investigation is evolutionary theory interpreted in the light of Bohr's complementary principle, which Zollinger sees as the most fundamental principle of natural development and thus of social development a well.
