Boston: The Chapple Publishing Company, 1915. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Olive cloth with white lettering and gilt decoration. xxiii, 261pp. Tissue-guarded color frontispiece, illustrations. Very good. Almost a "Near fine," as it's tight and bright and lovely, with just the faintest edgewear. Sharp copy of this hefty poetry anthology featuring everything you expected (Markham, Whitman, etc.) but mainly a whole, whole lot you never knew existed. Monaghan notes Oldroyd's self-published edition and a limited edition and calls Chapple's a "variant," but no priority is established and we believe Chapple's to be the first trade edition alongside Oldroyd's. Olive cloth with gilted tiles and portrait relief of Lincoln on front cover and gilted tiles to the spine. This copy is FINE. Exterior is rich, clean, and bright. Minimal evidence of wear at spine ends and tips. Inside is clear, crisp, and tightly bound. Other that a lovely gift inscription on FEP, unmarked. Tissue guard , color frontispiece of Lincoln. A bit of dust color to top page edges and scattered foxing to other page edges. Text only a hint of toning. Lovely, lovely copy..
