Handsome, antique copy of "The Poetical Works of OLIVER GOLDSMITH" with beautifully decorated gilt covers (both front and back). 1854; Willis P. Hazard; Philadelphia. The book features both in-text illustrations and lightly tinted full-page plates; decorative borders around the text on every page. Bright gilt page edges on all sides. Included is a Memoir of Goldsmith, "The Traveller," "The Deserted Village," and much more.
Condition:
Clean covers with bright gilt lettering and decorations; the gilt on the spine has somewhat dulled; cloth tear at the top-right corner tip of the front cover. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The interior is mostly clean with only some sparse, light foxing (though a bit heavier on the first and last few pages); old inscription written in pencil on the front end paper...no other writing found. Bright gilt on all page edges. Overall the book is in very good condition.
