Those scholars connected with the Chaucer Society of London established by Frederick J. Furnivall, offered their knowledge and labor. The present edition has been taken of these important labors, including investigations into the sources of Chaucer's stories, the meaning of his words, and the chronology of his poems. A handsome set bound in 3/4 tan polished calf over marbled paper covered boards with matching endpapers and marbled edges, slightly raised bands, red and blue contrasting morocco labels gilt, other compartments elaborately gilt decorated. Only very minor spots of wear.
