London, 1841. First Edition. Hard Cover. (London: Whittaker & Co 1841). First UK Edition. Publisher's dark green cloth with gilt spine lettering and decoration, cover decoration in blind, cxlvii, [1, errata], 331, [1] pages. Pale yellow contemporary end-papers. With the bookseller's ticket of James Bain, 1 Haymarket to the rear paste-down. A VG++ copy with spine slightly faded, spine ends pushed, top edge a little dusty, a tiny bump to the bottom left-hand corner of the rear board, the merest touch of rubbing to the spine edges. Strong hinges. Pages really clean. NO previous owner book-plates or inscriptions. A collection of early 19th century translations of Chaucer into modern English by several notable authors of the time. NB: this is a First UK Edition from 1841 and NOT A MODERN REPRODUCTION.
