Clean pages with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Top textblock edge dyed gilt. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Boards are bowed. Visible wear marks to boards.

Hardcover, brown cloth boards with blind stamped logo on front and rear, gilt on spine. Cloth on boards have a slight wrinkle but the worst issue is the spine has 60% of it is missing, presumably from insects many decades ago. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge cracks present. Pages are toned due to age and some foxing is present throughout, with the worst being the end pages and pastedowns. Second end page is stamped: "Property of The Biddle Presbyterian Chapel. Not to be taken away". Apparently, someone did not listen. On the blank end page opposite the title page there is a signature in pen and a second signature (Chas M. McClure) is written in pencil at the top of the title page. No other handwriting found in the book. Book would normally grade as VG- but the damage to the spine has lowered the condition grade to just G-.

Contains black and white illustrated frontispiece. Pages are mildly tanned, but text remains clear. Binding is shaky, due to heavily cracked front hinge, but all pages remain attached. Boards have light shelf-wear, with minor corner bumping and minimal scuffing to edges. Spine and edges are moderately sunned, with light crushing to ends. Faint water staining to boards. A few small brown marks overall.
