From the library of Pauncefort-Duncombe with his Brickhill Manor bookplate. 369 and 330pp., signed at the end of volume two as usual by John Churchill who was the executor of Charles' estate. The author, a poetical satirists was the son of Rev. Charles Churchll, curate and lecturer of St. John's Westminster. His poem, The Rosciad was his first poem and most believe his best. Bound in full calf trimmed in a decorative gilt, handsomely rebacked, bands gilt, double black leather spine labels gilt, old repair to half-title in volume one.

London: Printed For The Author, By Dryden Leach…[Vol. II: Printed for John Churchill…and W.Flexney], 1763-65. First Collected Edition. Volume II, published posthumously under the superintendence of John Wilkes, includes separate pagination for each poem, and according to Iolo Williams, was prepared from the sheets of the separately issued individual works. However, Rothschild suggests that, with the possible exception of Independence and The Journey, these poems were in fact reset. J.Churchill’s signature is not found in all copies. NCBEL II 593.
