New York: Boni and Liveright, 1921. First edition. 90 pp. 1 vols. 4to. Japan vellum spine and blue boards, spine darkened and with a small chip at top of spine. Bookplate of Harry Hatcher. First edition. 90 pp. 1 vols. 4to. Pound attempted to interest Liveright in publishing Joyce's Ulysses, but the experience of The Little Review at the hands of the censors showed how strong the forces of censorship were at the time. Liveright did published Pound's own work and poetry by two others he recommended: H.D. and T.S. Eliot. Poems was not a big seller for Liveright, but Pound's translations were successful. Gallup A21
