Indianapolis: Playgirl Enterprises, 1973. Magazine. 62p., 8.25x11 inches, essays, reviews, news, fiction, poetry, cartoons, centerfold nude-ish, ads, very good magazine in stapled pictorial wraps. At the bottom of the cover is the statement: "This magazine is for women's enjoyment. Playgirl magazine is not to be confused with any other existing publication." There is no reference I can find online including OCLC to this version of the magazine which debuted 6 months before the better-known periodical out of New York. William B. Hartford was the publisher. This issue appears to be at times at odds with Women's Liberation and contains articles on abortion pro & con and while edited by a woman it seems to lean more toward male specialists and authors commenting on women's lib. Only a single male nude photo, that of race driver Mike Hiss on a couch with his helmet protecting his other head!
