Best edition, substantially enlarged over the first edition of 1850-51; 7 volumes, 8vo, 2 folding frontispiece maps, later full polished tan calf, red and black morocco labels on gilt decorated spines, marbled endpapers and edges; slightest rubbing of the extremities; generally fine and handsome.

London: Fielding and Walker, 1778. First published in 2 volumes octavo in 1735, and again in 1744, this is the first edition in quarto, considerably improved and enlarged, pp. viii, plus unpaginated lexicon in double column; engraved frontispiece and 15 engraved plates; 20th-century quarter green morocco, the spine a bit discolored, else very good. With the bookplate of Wm. D. Tarrant, almost certainly the same Tarrant as the mayor of Wichita 1965-67, and the Gun Dog Editor for Field & Stream, and twice named Dog Writer of the Year by the Dog Writers Association of America. Terminology is alphabetically arranged throughout. Alston XVIII-4, 146 (erroneously identified as an octavo).

Author's first novel. Blue and yellow cloth with dustjacket illustrated by Roy Lichtenstein on the front and Andy Warhol on the back. Light edgewear, good hinges, firm text block, name and address written inside front cover beneath the dustjacket flap, embossed stamp with the same address at lower corners of front free endpaper and half-title, no other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket has edgewear and a slightly darkened but legible spine, some light shelf soil to the white background, chips to spine ends and lower corner of rear panel, none of the chips interfering with dustjacket design. . A collection of recipes and advice for pleasurable entertaining, from a woman of stature, descendant of Roger Puleston of Emral, Worthenbury. She spent her later years in Monaco, and travelled in high circles there, in the book offering thanks to the Marches Donghi for supplying recipes to this compilation. The recipes reflect Monaco, offering Tacchino all Storiona, Sole Lucullus, Zabaglione, and Oeufs Poches Marquise, for example. The author was the last Puleston to possess the trove of important manuscript on 16th and 17th century Wales and Ireland known as the Puleston Mss.
