Corners of the wraps chipped. Ownership inscription on the front free endpaper. The leaf for page ix and x is torn horizontally but intact. "Books suitable for presents in Sunday School" ad on the back wrap. Size: 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall. Original Pictorial Wraps. Good/No Jacket.

London: William Darton and Son., [c.1820]. 32mo. (10.7cm x 6.9cm). Attractively bound in contemporary black morocco with red, yellow, green and blue leather onlays and decoration in gilt. All edges gilt. Illustrated with an engraved portrait frontispiece of Fenelon and an additional decorative plate depicting urns and foliage. Contemporary bookseller's ticket for Philp & Evans of 29 Clare St., Bristol to the front pastedown. 127pp. A very good copy, the binding square and secure with a little cracking to the front hinge, rubbing to the extremities of the boards and some wear to the leather onlays. The contents with some spotting to the decorative engraved plate and light scattered foxing to the preliminary pages are otherwise in very good order.
