London: William Hodge & Company, Limited, 1936. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Nik Wheeler. With a Preface by Lt.-Col. The Rt. The Lord Tweedsmuir. With signature by author (though this cannot be verified). In very good mid blue cloth boards, gilt titles to spine. The boards are firm, flat and fairly clean; spine and edges sound. Unmarked end papers. Decorative book plate in name of T. Thornton Wills on front paste down. This could be Thomas Thornton Wills from WD & HO Wills Limited, tobacco manufacturers, Bristol. Slightly tanned cut edges. The text block is tight and straight; Prelims, end pages and some pages are lightly foxed. Name 'Clydsdale' in pen on title page; thought to be the author. No tanning. With many black and white photos (three folding) and three maps (one folding). Not annotated. Very good condition. Without jacket.

First edition. The pilots' own account of the Houston-Everest expedition, supplementing the official account given in First Over Everest (1933). The topographic information, cartographic and photographic material gathered on this expedition proved to be crucial for the successful conquest of Everst in 1953.
