About This Item

Colorado Springs: Colorado College, 1913. Hardcover. Pp.165-220, coated paperstock throughout; softbound in 9x6 inch plain printed grey wraps, mild signs of handling (crimping near spinefold, edgewear), a sound clean copy. Helen Hunt Jackson and William Allen Butler are the only familiar names; editor Hills concludes this pile of poems with a half-dozen of his own. General series no. 66 / Language series vol.II no. 29. Not truly "folklore," but conventional blank-verse and lyric notions about the land, the mountain of course, and projections intended to represent Native American points of view. In succeeding years editor Hills published more substantial efforts such as "New-Mexican Spanish," "Some Spanish-American poets," "Notes and queries on the meter of the 'Poem of the Cid,'" "How many words are there in Spanish?
