Dark red leather covers with black and gilt decoration and gilt lettering on front and blind-printed decoration on rear. Plain spine. Bevelled edges with rubbed corners and light wear to edges. Cloth split from upper edge of front spine-joint for about 2 cm. Light wear to spine-ends. Gilt text-block edges. Paper split over front internal hinge showing webbing, split between penultimate page and remainder of text. Clean pages and plates with occasional light foxing. School prize presentation plate dated 1894 on front end-paper, lengthy details of previous owners in ink on inside front cover and front end-paper. No dust-jacket. Undated by publisher.
