A perfectly serviceable reference copy; nothing fancy, but complete and a bit tinder of binding, so handle with some care. Considerable wear to the illustrated paper over boards, scuffing to tips and extremities, bumping to, scuffing of spine head and foot, chipping of paper edges, beginning separation of text-block from tan cloth-backed binding, but illustrations intact and quite lovely. Texts and illustrations by Edith Farmiloe, born Edith Caroline Parnell (1870–1921), a British children's book author and illustrator, active from 1895 to about 1905. A Wikipedia entry about her notes that between 1895 and 1909, "Farmiloe wrote about and illustrated the lives of children living in her husband's parish in Soho, and later in South Hackney. Her sketches, from her observing children playing on the streets, were used in Events of the Season, which appeared first in Little Folks magazine in November 1895. Detailed bibliographical references to Farmiloe's work are taken from Mr. Beare's 2010 study." Franklin Thomas Grant Richards collaborated with her and published under Grant Richards.
