Measures 11' by 14" in half leather with gilt title and four raised bands on spine. Each gravure is followed by a full-page description of the scene. The titles are: An Interesting Conversation; The Assassination of Wallenstein; Sermon in the Court of the Cathedral of Seville; The Women's Court; A Pest; At the Alhambra the Day After a Victory; The Foolish Virgins; Reconnoitring; The King Amuses Himself; The Woman Taken in Adultery; Cain; Morning; Return from Oyster Fishing at High Tide: Cancale; Bercy in December; Charles Martel Before Poitiers; The Flower Girl; Childrec III, the Last of the Merovingians; The Bathers; and On the Nile. The back of the book features text and illustrations on Contemoray Art--The English School and The German School. In very good condition with rubbing to spine and corners, and light foxing to a few of the interior pages.
