Cincinnati, OH: Lyman & Cushing, 1890. First edition. Leather Bound Hardcover. Good. Tall, thick octavo in original brown leather with 4 raised bands, and black label with titles in gilt. Scuffing and scratches to boards. Some wear and chipping at head of spine. A bit of soiling at top of textblock. Front joint weak but attached, rear joint worn but in better condition. Endpapers browned at edges. Stamped name of former owner on front & rear pastedowns. First & second free endpapers have a small tear at bottom edge. 571 p. w/ illus., index. list of prisoners. Complete, 18 full page plates and one fold out map of Andersonville with a spot near the edge and some creases at edges, as well as many small illustrations set in among the text. . An uncommon, important, and comprehensive record of Union prisoners of war in Confederate prisons, an anthology of 2 different narratives (the longer one by Isham) set apart from each other with full page "title" pages, using many sources.
