In Very Good Condition: edges lightly rubbed; top edge of vol.1 title page with former owner's name lacking, without impact on printing; occasional light foxing; otherwise clean and tight.

London: Printed for T. Boys , 1822. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 5" by 3". Not Stated . Pocket sized copy of the Percy Anecdotes by Thomas Byerley in smart calf binding. Supposedly written by brothers Sholto and Reuben Percy, pseudonyms for respectively Joseph Clinton Robertson and Thomas Byerley. With frontispiece and engraved title page. Containing anecdotes of eloquence, concerned with Greek statesmen and orator Demosthenes, Cicero, Doctor Shaw, 'the orator of the human race,' and much more. Rebound in full calf with decorative gilt tooling to spine, marbled edges and endpapers. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, light rubbing to joints. Previous owner's neat gift inscription to front free endpaper, dated 1823. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

T. Boys (London), 1821-01-01. Leather Bound. Very Good. 0x0x0. (1821-1823; T.Boys) Complete 20 volume set, each book contains 2 anecdotes. 24mo 3-quarter Leather with brown marbled boards. Raised bands at spine with gold lettering.Marbled paste down and end pages. Gold gilt to top page edges. These books are in remarkable condition for their age (closing in on 200). the leather of each volume is supple but showing some patina and fading especially at the spines. Occasional bumps to corners but no fraying. Gold gilt at top page edges, shows some volumes with scratching, most bright. Toning to page edges. Bindings are tight, all hinges are intact and most volumes appear un-cracked or never read. Pages are unmarked. (More scans available on request)

Rare original poetry book with cloth covered boards, copyright 1880 by J. W. Shoemaker & Co. This edition published in 1906 by the Penn Publishing company, Philadelphia. From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.
