Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Imprensa Nacional. 1921. First Edition. Quarto (12 x 9). 101 pp. Sixteen lithograph plates of fish. Text in parallel columns in English and Portuguese. Eleven species of fish are known from the nodules of Barra do Jardim and Simoes, in deposits of the Cretaceous age. The keys identify the best preserved examples. The George S. Myers copy (Professor Myerss was a long-time Professor of Zoology at Stanford University and colleague of David Starr Jordan). Professor Myerss wrote on the front end paper, "Dr. Jordan said this was written in 1910!" (it certainly could have been written in 1910 but not published until 1921). Its also signed and dated by George S. Myers on the front end paper "G. S. Myers / Rio - 1942". Written and published during the age when Systematics ruled the day. The book is bound in black leather spine with gilt titles and blue marbled boards. A rare work. Light edge wear to the binding. Very good..
