Austin TX: Texas A & M University Press. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 1974. First Edition. Hardcover. x, 292, [2] pp. Illustrated. Index. Name stamped inside front and back covers, some fingerprint smudges; the dust jacket has faint stain and a 1 inch chip from the back panel. Otherwise a straight, tight copy of a classic work in the field of Pecan industry. Written to provide a practical reference for both the beginning and experienced pecan grower. Successive steps are clearly outlined for the development of orchards. Chapters cover history, botany and geographic distribution, soil, climate, propagation, establishing and managing the pecan grove, pests and hazards, varieties, composition and used of pecan kernals, the shelling industry, and culture in countries around the world outside the native range. A Trivia chapter offers an entertaining element. Brison was a Professor at A&M University. Bison is recognized by the pecan industry as one of the foremost experts in both the culture and management of pecans. “Dr. Brison taught the pecan course for 43 years in the horticulture department at Texas A&M, and published the Pecan Culture textbook.” (Dr. George Ray McEachern); 8vo .
