White and yellow staining to boards. Dents to edges.

London: Smith Elder & Co, 1868 Good- copy in maroon cloth on boards with gilt title on cover and faded spine. Spine is rubbed top/tail and covers are spotted and lightly damp stained at edges. Front hinge cracked. Previous owner's inscription on endpaper and top title page. Text is clean and fresh but gatherings are a little loose. Single volume. Scarce.

However, rebinding is in order because both front and back gutters are cracked, the dark green boards with bright gilt lettering and ornamentation, blind stamped designs, is nonetheless badly abraded in spine, with lower portion stripped off.
