London: Duckworth, 1924 - 1928. First edition of all but the first volume which is a Duckworth second "edition" with chapter headings corrected published just 2 months after the first. Latter three volumes in the scarce to rare dust jackets. Tetralogy set during WWI, mainly in England and on the western front, where Ford himself served as an officer in the Welch Regiment. SOME DO NOT (1924): near fine with faint foxing to page edges and tanning to free endpapers NO MORE PARADES (1925): INSCRIBED to British novelist & friend Cyril Anthony George Bertram (1897-1978), "For Anthony Bertram / Ford Madox Ford / Bignor 14 May MCMXXXIV"; faint offsets to endpapers and title page a little foxed otherwise near fine in near fine, lightly soiled dust jacket with small stain on rear panel. A MAN COULD STAND UP (1926): foxing to page edges and title page otherwise bright and fine in fine dust jacket with only light soiling. LAST POST (1928): pastedowns and hinges darkened, spine ends touch frayed, otherwise near fine in good to about very good dust jacket showing light soiling, tanning to spine, small hole in front flap fold and chipping to spine ends (not affecting lettering). An exceedingly difficult set to assemble again, especially so with dust jackets.
