London: C Hoare and Co, 1797. No Binding. Near Fine. 9x22cm Two engraved receipts from the oldest British bank and the fourth oldest bank in the world, dated to 1797, made out to the London lawyer John Thomas Batt. The receipts are printed, and accomplished in manuscript at the bank. Both receipts signed 'Mr H Hoare'. Old folds, otherwise very good. One receipt is for £2000 and the other £4000, the first involving Everard Fawkener, presumably of the 11th Dragoons and the second, Robert Blake. Near Fine 1797
