About This Item
Tours: Acheve D'imprimer Sur Les Presses Des Mattres Arrault, 1952. Limited Edition. Quarto. Limited to 500 copies. The present copy is number 479. xix, 277(1) pages, with 35 facsimiles of Napoleon letters to and from major figures in his era. Jacques Arnna was the major expert on autographs for the Musee National de l'Armee and President of the Court of appeals, he has inscribed this edition to a fellow judge on the half-title page. His work is also referenced in the Princeton study of their Napoleonic signatures. Beautifully bound in full green polished calf ruled and stamped in gilt, slightly raised bands gilt, compartments lettered and decorated in gilt, inner gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers, small rub mark to upper joint near head. Since most were issued only as paper reference copies, beautifully bound copies in full morocco are uncommon.
