Portland: Binfords & Mort, Publishers and The Oregon Historical Society, 1950. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. 8vo. Pp. 173. Illustrated with black and white photo reproductions. An appendix lists ships that foundered at the mouth of the Columbia River and the cause their demise. Endpaper maps. Bound in full yellow cloth with black stamped lettering on front cover and spine. The color illustrated dust jacket is in better condition than we usually see, with just a slight suggestion of sunning to spine; price of $3.00 intact on the front flap. Inscribed by Gibbs on the half-title. Inscription reads, "With best regards to -- and -- [signed] James A. Gibbs, Jr. 1954". Contains great factual and anecdotal information on the desperate sailing mishaps, wrecks and accidents. Dust jacket is now housed in a clear, removable archival protector.

Portland, Oregon: Binfords & Mort, 1950. First Edition. Hardcover with blue boards. Near Fine/Very Good. Alfred A. Loeb personal copy. Signed by Loeb on the FFEP and includes a number of clippings and notations from the noted supporter of Oregon and Washington natural and historical sites. Loeb has an Oregon State Park in his name. Book is in excellent condition with some notes in pencil throughout. Dust jacket is very good and is protected by a Some chipping noticed to the DJ at the head. Newspaper clippings have been moved into an archival pouch to avoid staining of the book. A nice collectable association copy.
