About This Item
New York: J. H. Colton and Company, 1856. ix, 225p., six double-spread maps as called for, each competently hand-colored with pale washes; wood-engraved vignettes; 7.6x5 inch brown cloth boards spine-titled gilt with impanelled covers press-decorated in blind. A sound copy with the following faults: edgewear with small spots of card showing at top, tail and corners; binder's paste discoloration of endsheets; cheaply-cased textblock a bit stiff; extensive foxing with light stains (and an old tree-leaf) within; spine gilt visible but illegible. In general, a good (good-only) copy.
