Inscribed by son and father on half-title, "To Dr. and Mrs. Frank Stanton / Lowell Thomas Jr. / Lowell Thomas". The Thomas's successful expedition was made in 1949, and produced a number of splendid color photographs of the country and its people, the first, the author believes, to have been reproduced in a book.
