About This Item

Viking, Camberwell, Melbourne, 2005. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Illustrator: Photographic. XIV, 802 pages, foreword by Rahul Dravid, forward by Tim May, introduction by author, career records, acknowledgements, credits and index. Photographic endpapers showing the "baggy green" embroidery of Steve Waugh's and on the rear endpaper showing his famous pink hankie. The text is illustrated with numerous colour and black-and-white photographs throughout the text of his life and cricket life. Some rubbing to the backstrip edges and to the book corners. A small mark to the front text edge. Colour photographic dustwrapper with gilt and white titles to the front panel and backstrip. A little rubbing to the dustwrapper edges. "As captain of the Australian Test team from 1999 to 2004, Steve Waugh turned a successful side into a dominant force that in many cricket watchers' view ranks with Sir Donald Bradman's 1948 "Invincible's" and the West Indian teams of the 1980s as one of the best teams of all time. Waugh is also noted for having departed from the sometimes ockerish traditions of Australian cricket, encouraging his players to learn about the cultures of the countries they played in and helping raise funds for Indian children affected by leprosy. -- rear fold over blurb.
