Paris: Masson et Cie, Editeurs, Libraires de l'Academie de Medecine, 1901. 97p., illustrated with numerous steel-engraved depictions of misalignment, injury, and therapeutic devices made from wood and metal. Picture size varies from vignette to half-page except for the eleven color plates: these are fullpage however images remain smallish, their text and borders struck in sepia with chromolith onlay pigment. Presswork is on thick alkaline stuff, cream stock finished matte. Much thumbed through of course (judging from exterior condition) but textblock within remains clean, sound and unmarked. The thick card covers (10.5x7 inches) are worn, a little flecked, margins both back and front have mild damp-ripple. A good-only copy. Plates, especially the color plates, emphasize damage done by fashionable corsets, these provide the eye-candy for which chromolithography is rightly noted. The metal and wood devices, and many of the humans depicted here, provide a Petit Guignol.
