New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1897. Handsome edition was revised and enlarged in 1894 and includes pronunciation of English words, foreign words and phrases, and many names of foreign authors, artists, etc., that are often mispronounced. Book has decorative light brown covers with gilt and black lettering and decorations, plus all-edge gilt. Book measures 4 3/4 by 6 1/4 inches, with 292 pages, plus ads in rear. There's a small tear at seam between crown of spine and rear panel. Binding is a bit loose, but all pages are attached and present. There are penciled definitions added to a number of pages. See photo.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
