Viking Press, NY, 1950; First Edition; 8vo, 192 pages; illustrated. Western novel for juveniles by California cowboy/ writer/ rancher Chuck Martin, who was much beloved for teaching young people how to ride, rope, shoot, and care for horses and dogs at his "Boot Hill Ranch" near Oceanside. Illustrated by Jay Hyde Barnum. Nicely inscribed and signed in year of publication by the author on the front free end paper. Laid in are a publisher’s promotional bulletin for Martin’s upcoming book "Monsters of Old Los Angeles," and a newspaper clipping with a captioned photo of Martin at work at his typewriter. Two of Martin’s early books were adapted for shoot ‘em up Westerns, directed by and starring popular Western screen idol Buck Jones. Very Good Plus, in a Very Good dust jacket that has a small surface chip at the lower right corner of the front panel.
