About This Item

[Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1961. Fine. Original painting. Measuring 29.75" x 23" in 37.75" x 31.5" frame. A couple dings to the wooden frame, else fine. Signed by the artist John A. Clauser ("Clauser") in the lower right corner. An attractive painting of an ACME supermarket from the early Sixties with period cars parked in the foreground and appropriately garbed patrons (nearly all women in dresses) walking to and from the store. Though undated it was likely painted for ACME in 1961 when the company debuted its new "A" frame style stores and new teardrop logo (leaving behind its original script logo of the 1950s). This is likely one of the original architectural designs with a label on the rear that reads: "John A. Clauser / registered architect / 2036 Rittenhouse Sq.
