About This Item

Kodansha International Ltd, Tokyo, 1980 Book. Good. Hardcover. English text; Hardcover (cloth without dust jacket - as issued. In splicase.); Used books. The 11 volume set is in good condition with minor scuffs and signs of wear in the slipcases and hardcover cloths. The spines are slightly faded as usual (volume 11 - Metropolitan Museum is slightly more faded then the other volumes). Volume 5 (British Museum) and volume 9 (Freer Gallery of Art) show minor wear marks on the top of the slipcase. Far Eastern Ceramics is in very good condition showing minor signs of shelf wear, namely some marks on the front and back cover. The ribbon bookmark is slightly scuffed on the bottom. The interior of all volumes is as new.; A milestone in international ceramic documentation, this series is a brilliant presentation of the oriental ceramics collections of the world's major museums. Originally published by Kodansha in 1975 as a limited deluxe 12 volume set, this critically acclaimed and now scarce masterpiece has been issued in a standard edition with no compromise in the quality of scholarship or production. Each volume contains approximately 200 pages, with an average of 100 colour plates and 300 black-and-white plates. Each is handsomely cloth-bound with an attractive slipcase. This 1980-1982 standard edition set consists of 11 volumes and we added the publication Far Eastern Ceramics in the Victoria and Albert Museum published in 1980 (ISBN 0-85667-076-6) (174 pages; 2.199 kg; 27.2 x 37.4) which is a reprint of the 1975 edition (hence not bound equally as the set) in order to complete the original 12 volumes. The overall composion of the series is as follows: 60% China, 15% Japan, 15% Korea and Southeast Asia, and 10% Persia.; The 11 volumes are: Volume 1: Tokyo National Museum (ISBN 0-87011-440-9) (191 pages; 3.055 kg); Volume 2: National Museum of Korea (ISBN 0-87011-441-7) (184 pages; 3.010 kg); Volume 3: Museum Pusat, Jakarta (ISBN 0-87011-442-5) (175 pages; 2.928 kg); Volume 4: Iran Bastan Museum, Teheran (ISBN 0-87011-443-3) (166 pages; 2.780 kg); Volume 5: The British Museum, London (ISBN 0-87011-444-1) (171 pages; 2.880 kg); Volume 6: Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art, London (ISBN 0-87011-445-X) (174 pages; 2.927 kg); Volume 7: Musee Guimet, Paris (ISBN 0-87011-446-8) (181 pages; 2.984 kg); Volume 8: Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, Stockholm (ISBN 0-87011-447-6) (166 pages; 2.801 kg); Volume 9: The Freer Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
