About This Item
The program for Sam Shepard's "Operation Sidewinder", which ran at The Repertory Theater of Lincoln Center from March 12 to April 25, 1970. The director was Michael A. Schultz and the music was composed and performed by The Holy Modal Rounders. In Shepard's play with music an Air Force computer in the form of a giant snake escapes in the Mojave Desert and a variety of forces become involved with it against a background of Hopi Indian magic and mysticism. The program includes several articles on Hopi Indians and their snake dance and the text of songs from the play, as well as information about the Vivian Beaumont Theater and its 1970 season.
