Hutchinson, London, 1955. Reprinted Before Publication. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Poor. 192pp., last 2 blank, forward by Major-General G.L.Verney, author's preface. Black and white photographic frontispiece, "British Infantry 'press on regardless' to capture a village from the enemy.". Green coloured boards with silver writing on the spine. Bumping to the book edges and to the head and to the heel of the spine. Foxing to the paper edges, top worst affected than the rest. Some foxing has commenced internally. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing infantryman charging, with white writing on the front panel and spine. The dustwrapper is rubbed and faded and there is chipping to all corners. There is also chipping to the head and to the heel of the dustwrapper spine, along with a chair that runs the full width of the spine to the top, which has been repaired with tape (tape still in situ). Tape has been used to repaired the bottom spine gutter edges as well, again, tape still in situ. Grubby marks to the back dustwrapper panel. Price clipping has been done to the front fold over lower right-hand corner. The memoirs of the author, a common infantryman, during World War II, and the last battles of that dying war.
